How it all began
Mark and Kerry purchased their first shop in Great Massingham on 12th September 2018. Starting with just six team members, the vision was simple: a shop at the centre of its community, providing great service every day.

How it started
Norfolk Stores began with a single village shop and a straightforward ambition: to build something that genuinely mattered to the local community.
Founders Mark and Kerry brought years of food retail experience to Great Massingham. With just six team members, they set out to create a dependable shop at the heart of village life.
Investment and hard work followed. An old outbuilding became The Cartshed Tearoom, the mobile Post Office van took to Norfolk's roads, and one village shop began reaching communities across the county.

Our journey
We have grown steadily, always guided by the same values we started with. Although the business has changed, the family feel never has.
2021
National recognition
Hard work and a genuine belief in doing things properly paid off. The team was named Independent Store of the Year at the Retail Industry Awards 2021, and later won Best Shop at the Prestige Awards.
2024
Expanding our reach
A second convenience shop and Post Office opened in Brancaster, while the mobile Post Office van grew to serve 18 outreach locations across North, West and Central Norfolk.
2025
New services, same values
Banking Hubs opened in Holt and Wymondham, alongside a new Post Office in Fakenham. With a team now over 30 strong, the business continues to grow with the same family feel it started with.

We are more than just a shop, Post Office or tearoom. For many customers, we are woven into the rhythm of daily life. Some come to us for essentials. Some need help with important services. Some come for a familiar, friendly face. And some simply come because they trust us.
That trust is not something we take for granted. We play an important role in keeping local services accessible, supporting residents, visitors and local businesses across Norfolk. Every member of the team is part of that.
Today we operate seven outlets, serve 18 outreach locations with our mobile Post Office van, run dedicated Banking Hubs in Holt and Wymondham, and offer banking services at our post office locations, with new sites and services planned as we grow.
