Identity and Document Services

Get photocopies of your important documents certified as true likenesses of the originals. You must bring the original documents and your own clear photocopies. Staff cannot make copies for you. Staff will check each copy against the original, then stamp and sign them with the words "This copy is a true likeness of the original." Your originals are returned to you on the spot.

• Costs £12.75 for 1–3 documents per person (£25.50 for 4–6, £38.25 for 7–9)
• Accepted documents include passports, driving licences, utility bills, bank statements, council tax bills, educational certificates and legal documents
• UK birth, marriage and death certificates cannot be certified due to Crown copyright regulations
• Foreign-language documents are accepted. Staff check the copy matches the original, not the content

Face-to-face identity verification for official organisations, including GOV.UK One Login and Companies House. You must first register with the requesting organisation online and receive a verification letter with a QR code. Bring the letter and your original photo ID to the branch. Staff will scan the QR code, check and digitise your documents, and take your photograph. Your originals are returned immediately.

• Results are sent electronically to the requesting organisation, usually within a day
• Accepted ID includes passports, driving licences and other standard UK identity documents
• A fee applies. The amount is shown on your verification letter
• You can use this service even if the letter names a different Post Office branch

For individuals applying for a Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence to work in the UK private security industry, such as door supervisors, CCTV operators and security guards. You must first complete your application online via your SIA account at gov.uk/sia. The SIA will then issue a reference number and direct you to a Post Office to complete the process.

• Bring your SIA application reference number and original identity documents to the branch
• Staff will check your documents, take your photograph, record your electronic signature and take payment if required
• Your completed application is sent electronically to the SIA
• You must visit within 3 months of submitting your online application
• Any supporting paper documents must be posted to the SIA within 21 days of your branch visit
